Adam conquers all 214 Wainwright Peaks
Harrogate, UK; 1st October, 2009;
Adam Griffiths, a member of Foretel’s software development team, has walked all 214 of the Wainwright Peaks in the Lake District, completing a target he began while still at university.
Having grown up near Keswick, many of the hills (which are those listed in Alfred Wainwright's well-known Lake District guide books) were already familiar to him—now all he had to do was walk them all!
Despite his achievement, Adam’s not hanging up his walking boots just yet. Top of his list of future challenges are the National Three Peaks Challenge (climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours) and the Welsh 3000s (reaching the top of all 15 of Wales’ mountains over 3,000ft within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport). Meanwhile, Adam is planning a trip to the Italian Alps and is still chipping away at his Munro count when he gets the chance.
